Il video rappresenta il processo intero di esecuzione di una vista laterale della Ferrari 330 P4 del 1967. L'unico strumento utilizzato è la penna biro, partendo dal foglio bianco. Il tempo reale di lavorazione è di 22 minuti.

Are you car entusuasts, you are planning a special event and you have no idea about the invitation cards? Whether it's about wedding, or anniversary or a special chance to gather your Customers and Suppliers, I try to give you an inspiration by showing the graphic project for wedding invitations that I made some years ago for a couple of dear friends of mine.
Starring of the entire project is the historical Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider, the basic drawings were made with traditional techniques, then they've been processed by scanner then I created le layout with Photoshop, by adding some graphic finishes.

Durante il corso di specializzazione in Stile Dell'Autoveicolo, capitava di applicare la ricerca ad ogni tipo di mezzo di trasporto. Si indagava nell'anima storica ed estetica dei grandi marchi dell'automobile, per riversarla nella concezione di prodotti inediti.
In questo bozzetto di stile (utile esercizio di aerografo, pennarelli Pantone e matite acquerellabili su cartoncino Canson ruvido), immaginai come potesse apparire una moto nel contesto della filosofia Jaguar. Si tratta di un Marchio con una storia prestigiosa nelle corse, nelle quali non è mai mancata l'espressione dell'ingegneria attraverso armonia di forme. Per queste ragioni, pensai a una moto piccola e leggera, dalle spiccate doti dinamiche.
La particolare configurazione della ruota anteriore, e la conseguente impostazione del telaio, furono influenzati da due ispirazioni in voga a quei tempi: negli stessi anni, Bimota sviluppava il concetto "Tesi", caratterizzato dalla forcella orizzontale, e il progettista svizzero Franco Sbarro proponeva varie soluzioni costruttive per rendere funzionali le ruote senza mozzi.
Insomma, senza voler troppo prevedere quale efficienza potesse avere il mio concetto, volli presentare così una moto Jaguar, tentando la sintesi tra forme classiche e lo spirito di sperimentazione tecnologica, che aggiunge al progetto un linguaggio estetico provocatorio.
School memories - What if Jaguar manufactured motorbikes? (Year 2001)
During the degree course in Automotive Styling, we usually had to imagine different types of means of transport. The students had to "grab" the historical and esthetical soul of the great automobile brands then transferring it in unseen concepts.
This research sketch (combining aerograph, Pantone markers, watercolour pencils on rough Canson sheet) wants to imagine a new motorbyke in the philosophy of Jaguar. This Brand boasts a great success tradition in racing, always expressing the engineering solutions through harmony in design. That's why I had the idea of a small and light motorbike, with high performance on track.
The peculiar concept around front wheel, which influences the whole chassis structure, came as the inspiration by two experimental "trends" that have been developed along these years: the horizontal front-fork introduced by Bimota through the "Tesi" concept, and the "empty" wheels conceived by Swiss designer Franco Sbarro.
In the end, without thinking too much about the efficiency of my concept, this is the way I chose to introduce a Jaguar motorbike, as a result of classical shapes and the spirit of technological innovations, which embodies my motorbike of a new and challenging styling language.
Durante gli studi specialistici sullo stile del veicolo, uno dei temi proposti fu quello di immaginare una piccola vettura a 2 posti leggera e adatta alla guida su pista, improntata sullo stile della casa bavarese. Il riferimento era la Lotus 340R, le cui dimensioni sono veramente ridotte, oppure si poteva pensare a qualcosa di appena più grande.
A small BMW in the style of "Lotus 340R" (year 2001)
During the graduation course about vehicle styling, one of the subjects suggested to us students was about a small light two-seater car, suitable for track days, with the styling of the Bavarian Factory. The benchmark was Lotus 230R, the dimensions of which are very small, or we could imagine something a little bigger.

From my 2001 portfolio of drawings, I've found these sketches about a subject that was assigned by the Teacher: imagine a yacht designed according the styling identity of Audi Brand.
That time the choices of the Factory were strongly focused on the recall of the glorious Auto Union age, when the top triver was Tazio Nuvolari. I tried to make a layout that was as simple as the Audi shapes, while the style had to look like an historical "Auto Union" with open air wheels, along with elements from Rosemeyer concept car.
First I did a pencil exploratory research, then I made a summary painting of the idea, that was also a useful practice for combined drawing techniques with pencils, markers and watercolours.

On August 24th, 2022, Engineer Nicola Materazzi left this life; we remember him as an outstanding author in milestones in the history of sports competitions and high performance cars.
Dai contributi essenziali nello sviluppo della Lancia Stratos, passando poi per il debutto del turbo nelle Ferrari Formula 1 ed arrivando infine a firmare l'intero progetto della F40, nella fase finale di carriera fu protagonista nella rinascita del Marchio Bugatti a Campogalliano, presso Modena, e nella firma della supersportiva Edonis, all'epoca al vertice assoluto di prestazioni fra le auto di serie.
Starting from essential contributions in the development of Lancia Stratos, then going through the early age of turbo charged Ferrari Formula Ones, finally the signature on the whole project of F40, during the late years of his career he was involved in the rebirth of Bugatti Brand in Campogalliano, close to Modena, then he made another whole project for Edonis, that represented the absolute excellence of performance among the production cars.
Era un tecnico formatosi in un'epoca senza i calcolatori, in cui era fondamentale possedere la visione d'insieme dell'intero progetto. Con queste basi, si radicò in lui la concezione in cui dovesse sempre prevalere la qualità meccanica del veicolo, limitando al massimo ogni sofisticazione elettronica.
As a technician, he grew up during an age when calculations were not computer-assisted and it was essential to have a full vision of the whole project. Starting from this culture, he always followed the idea that sports cars must mainly be mechanical machines with very limited electronic features.
A mio parere, non è un punto di vista semplicemente "antico", ma un'idea ancora molto attuale e indispensabile per gli orientamenti nel futuro, anche oltre il campo dell'autoveicolo. Perché l'evoluzione tecnologica, e le sue ripercussioni sulla qualità della vita, devono prima di tutto portare un sostanziale beneficio all'esistenza delle persone e non trasformarsi in strumenti di crescente sottomissione e annullamento delle più nobili sfaccettature della nostra natura.
In my opinion, it's not simply an "old style" way of thinking, but this idea has a strong value nowadays, when we are facing crucial choices about the use of technology in the future, even beyond the vehicles. Because the evolution and its consequences on quality of life, must essentially bring improvements to people's existence without turning itself into intruments of growing submission of the purest parts of our nature.
Attraverso due filmati, ho voluto rendere omaggio alla memoria di quest'uomo, portando un mio personale contributo di testimonianze, il più possibile inedito ed esclusivo.
I made two videos to pay tribute to the memory of this man, making them on personal witnesses, as I wanted to do something unique and exclusive as much as possible.

Continua il lavoro sul progetto "NICOLA", un concetto di vettura sportiva di ispirazione Alfa Romeo, il cui nome è un tributo al Fondatore del Marchio. Finalmente, dal mio laboratorio "domestico" di stampa 3D, è uscito il primo prototipo in scala 1:18.
The work on "NICOLA" project goes on; that's a sports car inspired to Alfa Romeo, the name of which is a tribute to the Founder of the Factory. At last we have the first 1:18th scale model, just manufactured by my "home laboratory".
L'estetica è la mia proposta di un veicolo che esprima il miglior rapporto fra carico aerodinamico e resistenza, ma nella realtà il progetto è lo spunto per approfondire molteplici temi relativi all'epoca che stiamo vivendo e alla necessità di compiere le scelte più sagge per costruire un avvenire di vero progresso per l'uomo e la sua armonizzazione nel Mondo.
The style is based upon my concept for a vehicle which expresses the best ratio between downforce and drag, but it's just the starting point to get deep into the several meanings of the project. NICOLA is a way to think about the present time along with the need to make the wisest choices, if we aim to build a future with real improvements in human life in better harmony with the World.
NICOLA is the final act of a concept that's been developed between 2017 and 2019, starting with IMOLA, available in these blog pages.
